[MEETUP] Adults With ADHD Education Group: ADHD & Money: Building a Healthier Relationship with Your Finances
Nada
Money management can be challenging for anyone. But for people with ADHD, the difficulties can go beyond impulsive spending.
Time blindness, executive functioning challenges, emotional regulation, difficulty with consistency, and the tendency to focus on what’s happening right now can all affect how we manage money — from paying bills and planning for future expenses to making spending decisions.
And sometimes, even earning more money doesn’t make those challenges disappear.
Join our conversation: ADHD & Money Management
For our October Adults with ADHD Education Group, we’re joined by Maren Londahl-Smidt, LCSW, LCAS, founder of Infinity Growth Practice, for a practical conversation about ADHD and money.
Maren brings both clinical expertise and lived experience with ADHD to her work and will help us explore:
- Why ADHD affects money in ways we might not expect, including the impact of time blindness and executive functioning.
- Why you can earn a good income and still feel financially out of control.
- The “feast or famine” relationship with money and why periods of strict budgeting can sometimes be followed by overspending.
- What ADHD-friendly money management can look like, including practical systems and guardrails that reduce the need to rely on willpower.
- The financial strengths that can come with ADHD, including ways ADHD traits may influence work, creativity and entrepreneurship.
Whether you struggle with impulsive spending, have difficulty planning for future expenses, run your own business, or simply feel like traditional financial advice doesn’t work for your brain, this conversation is an opportunity to explore money management from an ADHD perspective.
