Animo Sano welcomes Pamela Reid, MD

A Warm Welcome to Pamela Reid, MD

Pamela Reid, MD - Animo Sano Psychiatry

Animo Sano Psychiatry team is growing. We’re excited to welcome our new MD, Pamela Reid! We had the pleasure to talk with Pamela about her life and experience and learn more about what motivated her to become a part of our team. Here’s Pamela’s inspiring story.

1. What inspired you to pursue a career in mental healthcare and what brought you to Animo Sano Psychiatry?

The field of Psychiatry is unique in that it requires a collaborative, whole person approach to Medical care. I have always enjoyed this aspect of being a Psychiatrist, spending time getting to know patients, unfolding and understanding together the complex interplay of medical and Psychosocial events that create the symptoms we focus on in treatment. I am happy to be a part of Animo Sano Psychiatry, working with great colleagues and staff. I am impressed with Animo Sano’s dedication to improving access to therapy and medication management for patients with varying insurances, as well as expanding care with integrative care models, TMS and telehealth availability.

2. What motivates you?

The beauty and richness of our shared human experience is a lifelong motivator for me. In my work as a Psychiatrist, it is inspiring, a privilege, to hear the story of a person’s journey in life. It is an honor to work together with patients, focused on the goal of helping each individual find options that are medically sound and therapeutically rewarding for their specific needs.

3. Tell us something about you that would surprise us?

My background before pursuing a career in Medicine was in the arts and humanities, completing Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Piano Performance. The world of literature, poetry, art, music and the beauty of the natural world opens a door that allows a fascinating and richly rewarding way to view the world we live in.

4. What words of wisdom do you live by?

“I like this quote by Dr Vivek Murthy, Surgeon General:
“People, organizations and Societies thrive when they are grounded in a culture of kindness”.
I think there is great wisdom in focusing on simplicity, compassion and kindness in our daily life.”

5. Share a recent “proud moment.”

I have been inspired by the recent paradigm shifts in behavioral health care! We are at the beginning stages of expanding options and increasing access to care for everyone. I’m proud of the changes that are occurring in Psychiatry and Mental Health Care and am happy to be a part of the positive forward momentum in our field.
