Animo Sano Psychiatry team is growing. We’re excited to welcome our new Administrative Assistant, Ann Descutido! We had the pleasure to talk with Ann about her life and experience and learn more about what motivated her to become a part of our team. Here’s Ann’s inspiring story.
1. What inspired you to pursue a career in mental healthcare and what brought you to Animo Sano Psychiatry?
I have always aspired to be involved in a healthcare account or with a healthcare company. However, when this job opportunity presented itself to me, I found myself grappling with doubt—questioning whether I was capable, and if I could navigate the challenges each day brings. Nevertheless, with the unwavering support from my Managers, Administrative team, and Providers, I gained confidence and assurance in my abilities. I discovered a profound eagerness to assist patients in their times of need. Experiencing the joy that comes from hearing a patient sincerely express their gratitude with phrases like, “Thank you for all your help, Ann,” elevates my sense of fulfillment to a whole new level.
2. What motivates you?
Work: I’m motivated not just by the excellent compensation at Animo Sano Psychiatry but also by their dedication to assisting every patient. We prioritize thorough documentation and ensure no concerns are overlooked. It’s a healthy work environment where patient care is a top priority.
Personal: My family is the driving force behind my commitment to work and excel in my job. I’ve experienced living below average before, and I don’t want them to go through that. While I teach my kids the value of gratitude and not boasting about their possessions, I also instill in them the importance of working hard to achieve their goals. Family is my top priority.
3. Tell us something about you that would surprise us?
In grade school and high school, I excelled in singing and dancing. I even secured the first-place position in a dancesports competition, specifically in ballroom dancing.
4. What words of wisdom do you live by?
“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.” – Theodore Roosevelt
“When the time is right, God will make it happen”
5. Share a recent “proud moment.”
I take pride in supporting my kids and contributing to my parents’ and siblings’ needs. Helping patients brings me a sense of pride. I’m proud of who I am, my job, and working with ASP.
6. Share any volunteer or charity efforts you’re involved in.
I haven’t started any charity work yet, but I hope to do so soon, when I am able. For now, we sometimes share our extra food and some old clothes with our neighbors’ kids.
