Animo Sano Psychiatry team is growing. We’re excited to welcome our new PA-C, Corbin Burns! We had the pleasure to talk with Corbin about his life and experience and learn more about what motivated him to become a part of our team. Here’s Corbin’s inspiring story.
1. What inspired you to pursue a career in mental healthcare? and What brought you to Animo Sano Psychiatry?
I wanted to pursue a career in mental healthcare in order to help alleviate
the shortage of mental healthcare providers in this country. It is also
important to me to help normalize the conversation of our mental health in
our daily lives! I myself suffer from generalized anxiety disorder, and it has
been so rewarding to help others who also deal with similar symptoms
that I do. What brought me to ASP was their commitment to providing
quality behavioral healthcare to their patients, along with their desire to
practice collaborative care with primary care offices, to help further close
the gap in mental healthcare accessibility.
2. What motivates you?
My loving partner and our 5 year-old Golden Retriever, Bozeman! They
are by my side every day, and encourage me to be the best version of myself. My
partner has been so supportive of my journey in medicine, and he constantly lifts
me up whenever I need it!
3. Tell us something about you that would surprise us?
I used to be heavily involved in musical theater, and was a part of
countless performances since the age of 9 years old! I am also an avid
snow skier, and was voted Homecoming King my senior year of college
(which also surprised myself)
4. What words of wisdom do you live by?
“Never judge a book by its cover”. This has been engrained in me since I
was a child by my parents, and it is something that I remind myself of ever
single day.
