Laura Purks

Laura Purks, PA-C, is a board-certified Physician Assistant with a clinical background in emergency medicine, urgent care, and psychiatry. She earned her Bachelor of Science from North Carolina State University and her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Lenoir-Rhyne University. Her early medical experience shaped a strong foundation in whole-person, medically informed care.

Through her work in acute care settings, Laura saw firsthand how often mental health needs go unaddressed and how limited access can impact long-term well-being. This experience inspired her transition into psychiatry, where she focuses on creating space for open conversations and thoughtful, evidence-based treatment.

Laura’s approach is collaborative and patient-centered, emphasizing medication management when appropriate and care that supports the full health picture. She is especially passionate about women’s mental health and is dedicated to helping patients feel heard, supported, and empowered as they work toward meaningful, lasting emotional well-being.
