Animo Sano Psychiatry team is growing. We’re excited to welcome our new PMHNP-BC, Jorden Espersen! We had the pleasure to talk with Jorden about her life and experience and learn more about what motivated her to become a part of our team. Here’s Jorden’s inspiring story.
1. What inspired you to pursue a career in mental healthcare?
I always wanted to help others from a young age but ultimately working as a nurse and seeing the overall disparities of our mental healthcare system inspired me to get in the psychiatry field.
2. What brought you to Animo Sano Psychiatry?
I maintain a patient centered practice, and I feel that Amino Sano Psychiatry modeled the need for quality over quantity patient care. This focus is vital for patient centered care to allow the patient to be seen as a whole with less time limitations
3. What motivates you?
My husband, my son, and my 3 dogs motivate me daily to work hard and play harder. My patients motivate me to continue to learn and grow as a provider.
4. Tell us something about you that would surprise us?
I was a Neuro Trauma ICU nurse for the first 5 years of my medical career.
5. What words of wisdom do you live by?
The highest form of knowledge is empathy
6. Share a recent “proud moment.”
Hearing my 18 month old son say “truck” for the first time.
